Manganese dioxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula MnO2. It is a black amorphous powder or black orthorhombic crystal. It is insoluble in water, weak acid, weak alkali, nitric acid and cold sulfuric acid. It dissolves in concentrated hydrochloric acid under heating and produces chlorine gas. . 3. Used in the electronics industry to make manganese-zinc ferrite magnetic materials.
4. Used as raw material for iron-manganese alloy in steel-making industry and heat-increasing agent in casting industry.
5. Absorbent for carbon monoxide in gas masks.
6. In the chemical industry, it is used as an oxidant, a catalyst for organic synthesis, and a desiccant for paints and inks.
