Pharmaceutical: In the organic synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, zinc chloride, as a catalyst for Friedel - Crafts reaction, Fischer Indole synthesis and Alkyd esterification, it has shown its superiority in green chemistry and such reactions. Compared with the catalytic effect of other Lewis acids, zinc chloride solves a lot of problems such as high pollution, heavy energy - consumption and poor selectivity during chemical manufacture. 

Dry cell battery: Zinc chloride Battery Grade 98% is commonly used in dry cell batteries as an electrolyte.

Water Treatment: Zinc chloride used as corrosion inhibitor and scale inhibitor in water treatment facilities, including drinking water treatment, cooling towers, in oil and gas wells.

Galvanizing: Zinc chloride is used in fluxes for hot dip galvanizing. It dissolves the dense oxide layer on the metal surface, leaving the metal exposed and ensuring the bonding between the metals. 

Zinc Electroplating: Zinc chloride is main source of the zinc in acid zinc plating bath.

Agriculture: Zinc chloride is an important micronutrient that is used extensively in agriculture. Zinc chloride is a source of zinc and be further combined with chelating agent to form water soluble solutions that are readily bioavailable for animals and plants. 

Petroleum: In petroleum industry zinc chloride is a powerful emulsion breaker for separating oil and water.
